Galerie Diurne was founded in 1982 by Marcel Zelmanovitch, a painter, out of a passion for the history, wools, and weaving techniques of Nepalese carpets.
Galerie Diurne is unique among carpet manufacturers in that it has owned its own factory in Nepal for almost 20 years. This facilitates a highly collaborative process among client, designer and weaver that enables us to customise every step of the process—from wool selection, dying, knotting, washing, cutting, and carving. When you buy a Diurne Carpet, you are buying a process and an end product that are completely customised to your requirements.
Lead times for custom carpets are approximately 16 weeks. However, we do maintain some stock!
